| The Area
Just over 160 miles from London along the M4 Motorway, Bridgend County
lies on the Southern coast of Wales roughly half-way between the cities of Cardiff and Swansea. From the coastal
plain through which the motorway travels land rises to the north to embrace the valleys the Llynfi, Garw and Ogmore
Valleys in rounded hills that rise to over 300 metres. The population, which currently numbers about 330,000 is
concentrated in these valleys and on the coast, the largest towns being Bridgend with a population of just under 40,000,
then Maesteg and Porthcawl with roughly 20,000 each.
